Snow Days Ahead
Ski season is here, and we've made a few trips into the mountains. Our first day out? Let’s just say it was an adventure—though not in the ideal powder-filled way we’d hoped for. Heavy wet snow fell nonstop, clinging to everything—and by the end of the first run, Brandy had collected an epic snow beard!
As the day progressed it was even hard to see the trees ahead of us! After pushing through a half-day, we decided it wasn’t worth the risk to keep going. Better to walk away safely than push our luck. As it turned out, we made the right call—they shut down that side of the mountain shortly after we left due to safety concerns.

It’s a good reminder that knowing when to forge ahead and when to step back is key—not just in skiing but in everything we do. Success comes from weighing risks and rewards carefully to make smart, intentional moves.
Even with imperfect conditions, we had a blast being back on the slopes! There is something uniquely special about being surrounded by snow-covered trees and fresh mountain air.
Economic Crossroads: Prepare for What’s Coming
The economic landscape for 2025 is shaping up to be one of resilience. While consumers powered through 2024, keeping growth steady, the Federal Reserve and the new administration are setting the stage for what comes next.
The Economy’s Strength and Its Impact on Rates
The U.S. economy expanded 2.5% in 2024, driven by strong consumer spending on goods like vehicles and clothing as well as services like medical care and transportation. Despite slowed growth in Q4, consumer demand remains strong, which may delay or reduce the pace of rate cuts in 2025.
The Federal Reserve reinforced this stance, holding rates steady and signaling no urgency to cut. Fed Chair Jerome Powell made it clear: policymakers need to see “real progress” on inflation before making any moves. While a rate cut at the Fed’s next meeting in March seems unlikely, a reduction in May is plausible if inflation continues to improve and economic activity slows enough to confirm that interest rates are effectively cooling growth.
One notable trend emerging from late 2024 is how businesses are managing inventory. Rather than ramping up stock levels, many relied on existing inventory to meet strong consumer demand, a decision that weighed on overall GDP growth.
Economists expect this trend to reverse in early 2025, as companies increase imports ahead of expected tariffs under the new administration. If businesses move aggressively to get ahead of policy changes, this could drive short-term spikes in demand—an important factor to watch in the coming months.
Regardless of whether you're investing in real estate, running a business, or planning your next financial move, understanding these shifts helps you stay ahead of the curve. Rate policies, consumer trends, and government actions all play a role in shaping opportunities.
In moments of uncertainty, knowledge is power. While some are distracted by headlines, we’re focused on what really matters—identifying opportunities, adapting as needed, and staying ahead of the game.
From Playroom to Theme Park
Mattel’s Iconic Brands Come to Life in Kansas City
Mattel, Inc. is making a major investment in Kansas City, announcing plans for a $487 million theme park spanning 140 acres—more than twice the size of its soon-to-open flagship park in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This move isn’t just about entertainment—it’s a signal. Major companies invest where they see long-term potential, and Mattel’s expansion reinforces what we already know: Kansas City is a stable, growing market.
Set to open in 2026, Mattel Adventure Park isn’t just bringing Barbie and Hot Wheels—it’s driving job growth, tourism dollars, and economic expansion, reinforcing Kansas City’s position as a thriving, investment-worthy market.
Opportunities Exist for Those Who Are Prepared
